I am a child of Africa. Born outside of her womb I still have her eyes. We needed to reconnect for the both us. The time has come & I am not alone.

Black History Month was born out of the Associatio Black History Month was born out of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH) created by the Great genius Dr. Carter G. Woodson and the prominent minister Jesse E. Moorland which was dedicated to researching and promoting achievements by black Americans and other peoples of African descent in 1915.
.
In 1926, they began celebrating Negro History Week the second week of February to honor the Birthdays of Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12) and the great Frederick Douglass (Feb. 14). It inspired the rest of America and eventually the world to start holding lectures and programs centered around the theme Black achievement. It eventually moved to a month long celebration. US President Gerald Ford was the first US President to officially recognize Black History Month in 1976.

‘I’ve never been more hopeful about our future ‘I’ve never been more hopeful about our future and I ask you to sustain that hope. I'm not talking about blind optimism, the kind of hope that just ignores the enormity of the tasks ahead or the road blocks that stand in our path. I'm not talking about the wishful idealism that allows us to just sit on the sidelines or shirk from a fight. I have always believed that hope is that stubborn thing inside us that insists, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us so long as we have the courage to keep reaching, to keep working, to keep fighting’

‘The Negro is a MAN; we represent the New Negro. ‘The Negro is a MAN; we represent the New Negro. His back is not yet against the wall, we do not want his back against the wall because that would be a peculiar and desperate position. We do not want him there. It is because of this we are asking for a fair compromise. It is for YOU to come together and give us a United States of Africa. We are not going to be a race without a country. God never intended it and we are not going to disappoint God’s confidence in us as Men. We are Men, human beings, capable of the same acts as any other race. Possessing under fair circumstances the same INTELLIGENCE as any other race. Now Africa’s been sleeping. Not dead, only sleeping. Today Africa is walking around not only on our feet but on our brains’

The call for Black Consciousness is the most posit The call for Black Consciousness is the most positive call to come from any group in the black world for a long time. It is more than just a reactionary rejection of whites by blacks. The quintessence of it is the realisation by the blacks that, in order to feature well in this game of power politics, they have to use the concept of group power and to build a strong foundation for this. The philosophy of Black Consciousness, therefore, expresses group pride and the determination by the blacks to rise and attain the envisaged self. At the heart of this kind of thinking is the realisation by the blacks that the most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed

What do you believe in? Hebrews 11:1 says that fai What do you believe in?
Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Whether you are religious, spiritual or otherwise, you are certain to believe in something, even if that something is belief in yourself. What gives you confidence?
Today, the first day of a new year, take a moment of introspection. Think about the wins. The lessons. All of it. Allow yourself to feel it all and remind yourself to be grateful for how far you’ve come.
What gives you wings and reassurance that 2020 will be good to you?
Without complete trust and confidence, very little Without complete trust and confidence, very little can be achieved. What goals have you set for today? For tomorrow? For the next couple of months? The larger your faith, the bigger your dreams. But faith needs to be cultivated and nurtured, and even then, it is only the stepping stone to the things your heart desires. You must have the will and the perseverance to forge ahead every day, even on bad days that seem to go on forever. Keep your dreams in focus and every day, take actions that will bring you closer to them, all the while believing that you will arrive.
Faith travels down a two-way street of love. Faith Faith travels down a two-way street of love. Faith works by love. The Year of Return may have been an idea that was introduced to us, but our collective belief in what the journey would reveal, gave it power and made it blossom.
May it not be just one moment in time. May it be the beginning of reconciliation, of reconnection. Of returning over and over again.
Be hopeful in the things yet unseen.
What inspires us? New sights? Sounds? Tastes? Or i What inspires us? New sights? Sounds? Tastes? Or is it the familiar? Maybe even the old things that you’ve always had and known. Awaken your creative spirit this Year of Return as you revisit your past. Listen to the voices that call to you from a shared past that are also, your voice
Whether it be through dance or the lyrics of a son Whether it be through dance or the lyrics of a song, the written words of a pen or those of the talking drum, this Year of Return will speak to all who will wander the shores of Ghana reminding them that, our time is now. Now is the time to speak truth to power unapologetically and to unashamedly tell our stories. See your whole self as a new being and be proud of that.
.
They say that unless the lion learns to tell their own story, victory will always belong to the hunter. Begin now to reclaim our story and change the narrative
